An observation
If you're a TESOL/TFL teacher outside of USA this may not be the book for you. I bought it for use with my younger classes because I thought it looked engaging and fun, but I returned it straight away. It seems to me that the book is written for American teachers who want to 'welcome' foreign speaking students who have come to live in the USA into their classes. And in this respect it is probably an excellent little book! However, its value to general English language teachers outside the US is doubtful. There are some exercises that could be adopted/adapted, however, in my opinion, these don't warrant the purchase price. Yet please note, this is not an indictment of the book itself, but merely an observation that it doesn't really 'crossover' into a general TESOL setting.

Average with a capital A
As this is by an American author I found that it wasn't all that useful to me as it heavily based on American goals, standards and cultural themes that are not applicable in England or in other countries.
It does, however, have some handy full page handouts that will be useful to anyone teaching foreign children, that couldn't be bothered getting them off the net.Yet I would only advise someone who is teaching other language children in the USA to buy this - im sure they'd find it more useful.

A compact ESL educational guide
I have used this excellent little book a number of times during my english lessons here in Sweden. It has fun learning games and vocabulary developing work sheets that can be copied for the whole class.
