Introduction to Institute of Education

The Institute of Education is a graduate college of the University of London. It was founded in 1902 to deliver high quality training for teachers. We remain true to this aim, and every year 1,000 graduates attend our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) courses.

Expanding our activities
Over the years we have expanded our activities and now offer courses leading to higher degrees in all areas of education and related aspects of the social sciences and professional practice. Many of these courses are offered on a part-time, and, increasingly, distance basis and are structured to suit the busy lives of people working in the education service. We also offer short courses and host conferences responsive to the professional and personal requirements of education practitioners at all levels of the education system.
